Podcast: Jack Christofides
Jack Christofides, Team Leader for the Sudan Integrated Operational Team of the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations, sat down to talk with the Better World Campaign immediately following Sudan's referendum.
In 2007, Mr. Christodfides was the Principal Officer of the Europe and Americas Division at the Department of Peacekeeping Operations before becoming the Director of the Joint Mediation Support Team on Darfur. From 2005-2006, he served as Political Director at the UN Mission in Sudan, where he headed the UN team planning the UN peace support operation in Darfur. He was also a member of the UN team at the Darfur peace talks in Abuja.
Before arriving in Sudan, Jack Christofides was the senior adviser on African issues to the head of the UN’s Political Department in New York. He chaired the inter-agency process that drafted the Secretary-General’s 2004 report on the Rule of Law and Transitional Justice and was involved in the successful release of UN hostages in Afghanistan in late 2004.
