Strengthening U.S.-UN Relations

In our increasingly interdependent, globalized world, the United Nations is the indispensable platform for international cooperation on the great global challenges of our time -- from proliferation of weapons to widespread poverty, climate change, and terrorism. Working through the United Nations helps to share the burdens and costs of creating a safer and more peaceful, prosperous, and just world.

The United Nations must be updated to meet the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. However, UN renewal will not succeed without strong U.S. commitment and leadership. U.S. investment in the United Nations will pay off substantially in helping to enhance our standing internationally and strengthen President Obama's ability to keep America safe and strong.
